Writing in the Faculty of Arts: Understanding student learning and knowledge transfer in Arts Studies in Research and Writing (ASRW)
Dr. Jaclyn Rea and Dr. Kate Power are currently working with Arts faculty and students to identify academic writing expectations in various social sciences and humanities disciplines, and the extent to which students use the knowledge and practices gained in WRDS 150 in their subsequent social science and humanities courses at UBC. This project involves: genre analyses of student writing in courses taken after WRDS 150, and think-aloud protocol interviews with Arts faculty members and students, about that writing. Its results will be used to equip instructors better to prepare students for writing in the social sciences and humanities. Please contact Dr. Rea if you have any questions about this study.
